My name is Bryan James. I was born in 1926 and I am a great grand-son of George James
who was in business in Melbourne, Australia in the mid-1800s and who died at his home "Ridgeway"
near Southampton UK on 18th January 1877. Many of his descendants either remained in,
or returned to, Australia and I have a good deal of information about them but am finding
it difficult to be certain about things such as his parents or siblings and about his early life
in England and also in Australia prior to his marriage in Melbourne in 1840.
I am also a great great grandson of Anthony and Katherine Rose Beale, who came to the
Port Phillip District as pioneer settlers in 1839, through their eighth child Elizaabeth Maria Beale
who married George James and also through their seventh child Isabella Margaret Beale and
her second husband Charles Maplestone.
