GLENMAGGIE CEMETERY
The Glenmaggie Cemetery is located on the right-hand side of the Heyfield-Glenmaggie Road approximately three kilometers on the Licola side of Glenmaggie.

The area covered by the cemetery includes Glenmaggie, Licola and Seaton, although there are also many persons from these areas buried in Heyfield and Maffra.

The original cemetery was located below the present level of Lake Glenmaggie, and was moved to the higher ground of its present location just prior to the flooding of the valley when the Glenmaggie Weir construction was completed in the late 1920's. The older relocated portion of the cemetery is at the lowest end of the property and might be easily overlooked by visitors unless aware of its presence. Many of these older stones have been extensively vandalised and are so fragmented as to no longer afford identifiable inscriptions. Greatful acknowledgement is extended to Ailsa & Linda Barraclough for their painstaking work in transcribing many of these tombstones before their destruction.

The original plans for the relocated plots have also been mislaid and have never been recovered making it virtually impossible to correctly locate the actual grave sites of some of the persons recorded as being buried at Glenmaggie (according to extant cemetery records).
