Abbreviations

• VPI = Victorian Pioneer Index - Births, Deaths and Marriages 1837 - 1888
• VFI = Victorian Federation Index - Births, Deaths and Marriages 1889 - 1901
• VEI = Victorian Edwardian Index - Births, Deaths and Marriages 1902 - 1913
• VGWI = Victorian Great War Index - Births, Deaths and Marriages 1914 - 1920
• VDI = Victorian Death Index - Deaths for the period 1921 - 1985 inclusive
• BDM = Births, Deaths and Marriages Indexes (generic term for all of the above)

Burial Date

• The burial dates, especially for earlier burials, have the day and month filled in as 01 in lieu of a blank on the Sale Cemetery computer register to enable sorting and searching. Hence burial dates given as the first of the month or January should be verified. For death dates herein, the author of the DVD has inserted 00 where days/months are unknown.

Annotations

• Maiden names have been included for spouses, where possible, using the Victorian BDM Indexes.

Comments

• Parent's names have been included, where possible, using the Victorian BDM Indexes. Parents names are given as 'Unknown' where the Indexes indicate, and 'unknown', lower case, where no entry has been found.

Age

• The age for most individuals has been completed from the age at death as given on the Victorian BDM Indexes in conjunction with the age as given on the cemetery register.

• Mins. = Minutes
• H = Hours
• D = Days
• W = Weeks
• M = Months
• Y = Years
