FRANCIS HALES

FORTY FIVE YEARS INCUMBENT OF TRINITY CHURCH

ARCHDEACON OF LAUNCESTON,

BORN XMAS DAY 1821,

DIED JULY 19TH 1860.

Francis Hales, his wife, Anne Augusta, and their daughter, Margaret Letitia.

The crypt was originally set at the Church of England Cemetery, Launceston, Cypress Street.  When that cemetery was removed
in 1953 (Green, 2007, p. 134), the Hales' crypt was taken to rest at Launceston Holy Trinity Church (TFHS Inc., 2010), where Archdeacon Hales had served since his family's arrival from Ireland in 1854, and where the east window in the new Church (rebuilt and consecrated in 1902) is a memorial to him (Green, 2007, p. 208).
